But the smile fades when you smell the actual scent because yes - there is a lot of patchouli and wow - it is absolutely gorgeous. The opening is dry almost medicinal then a big exotic symphony of dark rubbery sweetness and sweet tilled earth appear and it is a pure patchouli splendor fascinating exotic no holds barred from that point on. It is a forbidden and irresistible fragrance like an ancient trunk full of contraband - but it also has the lush and verdant dampness of the undergrowth. All the complexities and contradictions of this enigmatic note - the golden opulence the herbaceous sharpness - are gloriously present. If you hate patchouli this is definitely not the fragrance for you. But if you love it then be happy - this is one of the most fabulous fragrances we have ever encountered. And the best of patchouli!
