Founded in 1643 , Trudon is the oldest candle manufacturer in the world still in operation. From the Parisian workshops on Rue Saint-Honoré to Napoleon's imperial court, the Maison has spanned centuries of history while maintaining a unique savoir-faire, a symbol of excellence, spirituality, and decorative art.
From 1643 to 1719 – The Royal Origins
- 1643 – Rue Saint-Honoré : Claude Trudon opens a shop in Paris where he sells spices and candles made of pure beeswax.
- 1702 – Manufactory : Michel Brice Péan de Saint Gilles founds the wax bleaching and candle making factory in Antony, south of Paris.
- 1719 – Royal Recognition : The factory obtains the title of Manufacture Royale , unique in its kind.
From 1737 to 1889 – From Monarchy to Empire
- 1737 – Expansion : Jérôme Trudon, heir to the family, purchases the royal factory. The house motto becomes “Deo regique laborant” : “Bees work for God and the King.”
- 1811 – Imperial Court : Trudon supplies candles to the court of Napoleon Bonaparte.
- 1889 – Universal Exhibition : The Carrière brothers, heirs to the Trudon savoir-faire, win the gold medal for innovation in candles at the Paris Exhibition.
From 2007 to 2018 – Rebirth and Perfumes
- 2007 – Scented Stories : The Trudon scented candle collection is born, at the crossroads of art and tradition.
- 2017 – Perfumes : The Maison launches the first five Trudon fragrances , transforming wax into Eau de Parfum.
- 2018 – Bee Protection : Trudon launches a program to protect the Orne black bees in collaboration with the Black Bee Conservatory and the Perche Natural Park.
