The story of Akro is the story of a family, of a dynasty that stretches from the early days of the perfume industry in Grasse to the cutting-edge art form that is artistic perfumery today. Anaïs Cresp, the founder of the house, decided to create Akro after a long summer spent in the heart of London, experiencing and experiencing the extraordinary underground life of the London metropolis. Anaïs had a flash of genius: the characteristic aromas of Notting Hill could be bottled and transformed into fragrances. Perhaps, instead of the classic fruits and flowers, you could wear your favorite vice on your skin. The project quickly came to life, because fortunately Anaïs knew the right man to turn this daydream into a reality: her father Olivier, the Grasse-based master perfumer behind some of the most famous fragrances on the planet, including Dolce & Gabbana's Light Blue and Mugler's Angel. Together, father and daughter began to share ideas, stories and scents.

Working in the pubs and bars of the vibrant and diverse Ladbroke Grove area, Anaïs Cresp was enraptured by the smells that surrounded her: the flower stalls, the coffee shops, the charcoal grills, the whisky and leather of the old, classic Irish pubs and the typical, constant haze of hashish in the air. When it came to deciding where to base what would become the niche perfume house Akro, there was no doubt: Ladbroke Grove, the place where it all began: home of Trellick Tower, Portobello Market, Honest Jon's, a number of pirate radio stations, a thousand shisha pipes, Joe Strummer, AJ Tracey, Martin Amis characters, those extraordinary Irish pubs on the high street and the ever-present hum of the Westway.
